Time to get going again!

Well, I jumped on my bike a few days ago, the first time since I got off of it on Mount Fuji 2 months ago. I only pedaled 5 miles, but it felt like 20. Its amazing how flabby and out of it one can get in just 60 days. I have been eating what ever I want, and have had no portion control.

I think there is a wall before me that I can't seem to quite climb over at the moment. I keep reaching for the top of it to get a handle on it, but it's just out of reach...dang!

So I guess I am putting my voice out there that I need a little kick in the butt. Anyone want to give me that nudge that I need? I'm usually pretty self motivated once I am humming along down the road and have made progress, but I feel like an old model-T right now that needs someone to help wind me back up and get me going again.

Don

I'm probably 20-30lbs heavier than 2 months ago.

  1. Yep time to get back to it! I've been missing the posts....By the way you probably motivate a lot of people that you don't know about, (Including myself!) Now lets keep moving!

  2. How about setting yourself another goal?
The main goal, of course, is to get back to 210. But along the way, you had a "mini-goal" (I know it wasn't so "mini") of climbing Mt. Fuji. To achieve the "main goal", you need to go through a series of steps, or "mini-goals". If you think of Fuji as the be-all-and-end-all, you'll stop where you are. Make Fuji the first of a series of goals along the way to the main goal.
Set yourself a new mini-goal - something that will challenge you enough to get back in shape - Maybe that's what has been missing.

    1. Yes, I definitely need a carrot out in front of me. I finally got back in the rhythm of things this week with riding and eating it sure feels good! I have my eye on a HUGE goal, but haven't bought into doing it yet. It would make the bike to Fuji look like a speed bump. I'd definitely have to be to my goal weight in order to attempt it. I have not bought into it yet though. Maybe in the winter as I progress forward I will get up the guts to make a decision.

Anyway, it might be your turn to come to the US and ride with me to this next "mystery" location... he he he.

Good to hear from you Travis!

  3. Don, cheering you on for the next steps. I can't recommend enough transitioning off processed foods. For me I went the extra steps of going grain free and processed sugar free. Both things stood in my way for 40 years. I'm only 47. I needed to both loose weight for my health and stop emotional/binge eating.

Between the food and emotional/binge eating, I've found my way. If you are an emotional or binge eater, I would recommend Alen Standish's blog and podcasts at Quit Binge Eating dot com. He's a guy who gets it. And that's refreshing. I was interviewed on podcast #19.

Take care and keep finding what works. You are not alone. Safe travels. We are stronger together.

Ps- I like Travis' mini-goal idea.

  4. Karen,

Thank you for your constant encouragement. I am planning on ramping things up again. I know that eating is key, and that when I have gone the natural route, eating only fruits, vegs, and meats, that things seem to sync up. When I slip and eat a processed food/carb, I notice my body starts craving carbs, and you know the rest of the story. I will go check out the blog you have mentioned.

Here's to amazing things in 2014!
